Movida continues to pursue wireless customers in the U.S. Hispanic sector. The company has expanded its reach into Dallas and Austin.
In February, Movida revealed an MVNO agreement with Sprint that would allow the company to launch wireless services targeted at U.S. Hispanic consumers. The service first launched in April in Phoenix and San Diego. In addition to the two Texas markets, Movida also offers service in Houston, San Antonio and other select Texas cities located in the Rio Grande Valley.
Movida will be available in Los Angeles soon, the company says.
The company is selling its Movida-branded handsets and prepaid minute cards in Wal-Mart stores, as well as other select retail locations.
The service features traditional domestic calling features plus international voice and data services that are culturally and geographically focused content in Spanish, the MVNO says.
A recent Yankee Group study estimated that MVNO service revenue will reach $10.7 billion by 2010. The MVNO market is expected to have roughly 29 million customers by 2010, the Yankee Group has said.
